Pests and Pollinators

Strike a balance between managing pests and encouraging the ecosystem services of beneficial wildlife with research based on Florida conditions and crops.  Integrated Pest Management includes the use of chemical control when necessary, but begins with using solid management practices to reduce pest pressure and conserve natural systems.  Start with good pest identification, consider your options and develop a record keeping system to analyze your results later.  See our Diagnostic Services and Organic Production pages for companion information to support your decisions.  Find specific expertise using our “Ask the Experts” feature, or contact your local Extension office for more help.
